  A key priority of ZIB is the support of early-career researchers. The institute sees itself as a point of contact for young scholars from its own institutions as well as other organizations and disciplines, to whom ZIB offers its concentrated methodological and subject-specific expertise.

ZIB regularly organizes ZIB Academies and workshops for young researchers at its participating institutes (TUM, DIPF, and IPN).

Participation in the ZIB Academies is open to researchers from universities and universities of education who find the topics covered to be of interest to their own work. They are primarily aimed at doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in the educational sciences, psychology, statistics/mathematics, and computer science, who are interested in or already conducting research in education.

The three partner institutes work closely together in planning the academies, with one institute taking the lead in each case. To ensure extensive networking, a cooperation partner from an institution outside ZIB is, wherever possible, involved in the planning and implementation of each academy.

  In addition to providing data for re-analyses and secondary analyses, the Research Data Centre (FDZ) at IQB offers targeted support for early-career researchers through consulting and training opportunities.

Every spring and autumn, FDZ organizes practice-oriented workshops on empirical educational research. These workshops introduce participants to the analysis of educational data and offer opportunities to discuss ideas with renowned experts.

    Doctoral and postdoctoral theses at ZIB
-----------------------------------------

  Current doctoral and postdoctoral theses at ZIB cover a wide range of topics and use a wide variety of methodological approaches. Both methodological and applied research questions are addressed, thus enriching educational research with new insights.

Here you can find an overview of the doctoral projects currently supervised at ZIB across its three sites in Munich (TUM), Frankfurt (DIPF), and Kiel (IPN).
