Research Synthesis Self-regulated Learning

Self-regulated learners are more successful not only in academics, but also later on in their life. They are actively involved in their learning process and use effective learning strategies. In addition, they display higher levels of self-efficacy and perseverance, which helps them in handling challenges and reaching their goals. By fostering self-regulated learning, teachers and schools can strengthen a basic skill of their students, which has life-long benefits.
Within this research synthesis, we examine interventions that train self-regulated learning strategies and ask: Which interventions are successful in promoting self-regulated learning in students? And which characteristics of these interventions are most effective in promoting self-regulated learning in students?
