ZIB Academy 2025
Focusing on Educational Equity (08-10/09/2025)
The ZIB Academy 2025 at TUM was dedicated to the key topic of educational equity and brought together international experts from educational research, education economics, and education policy. Over three days, the event offered practice-oriented workshops, interactive formats for exchange, and inspiring keynote lectures.
The academy opened with a multi-part workshop in which Professor Francesca Borgonovi (University College London, Social Research Institute) introduced participants to large-scale assessments and educational equity.
In the second main workshop, Dr. Diego G. Campos (University of Oslo, MapIE) provided practical skills for analysing educational inequalities using international large-scale assessment data (e.g. PISA, TIMSS).
A particular highlight was the public keynote lecture by Professor Ludger Wößmann (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, ifo Center for the Economics of Education) on the relationship between school performance, competencies, and prosperity.
The programme was accompanied by a poster session in which early-career researchers presented their projects. Numerous additional networking opportunities offered possibilities for professional exchange.
